Room Environment (Low-Poly)
This is my first ever fully completed environment model i did in Maya. Learnt alot of fundamental modeling and texturing techniques used with Maya while working on this project. It was a great learning experience. This is still not the best and perfect piece of work, there’s so much more i could have improved on, now that i’m more familiar with the “traits of the art”. My goal is to be a great game level/environment artist. Creating such an environment with Maya is alot different from what my past experience in creating levels, is. I started by using 3rd party game engine tools, such as Valve’s Hammer (known as Worldcraft in the early days), Unreal’s mod tool, Far Cry 2’s Level building tool. These apps are highly customized and geared specifically to creating environments around the specific game engine, everything seems more “natural” and “makes more sense” when working with these game engine tools, rather than in Maya. Alot of other aspects of the game environment such as props, “pre-fabs”, do indeed originate from 3d modeling software like Maya or 3DSMax.
